Always a realist painter – intially exclusively of portraits and figures made from life – in recent years subjects and themes have extended to include major series of large-scale seascapes and forestscapes as well as many cycles of small-scale meditations such as the Fallen Leaf studies featured in this show.

SALLY HAMPSON

Sally Hampson’s love for colour and texture started as a young child.  A blanket her parents bought over from Ireland when they settled in London, was their only precious belonging. “It came every where with us, like another family member, wrapped in it when cold or tired almost certainly made me become a weaver” Now Sally weaves limited editions of blankets, shawls and scarves.

SCOBEL CLOTHING

Jackie Parson’s clothing is inspired by a combination of period costume and utility wear. Choosing natural fibres and time honoured techniques, these clothes have an economy of design which offer durability as well as an innate romance. Each piece is intended to pass through the years ahead as go to wardrobe staples, immune to the fickleness of trend. For the practical of mind and romantic of heart.

The Many Hand Sale

After the devastating but understandable news last year of the end of the Hand sale (Gail and Kirsten needing to divert time toward new projects)  I am delighted to join the new era in the form of ‘The Many Hand Sale’  as picked up by Christa for whom we are most grateful, same venue, same high standard of participants and most importantly same ethos; raising money for where it is needed. This year proceeds of the raffle (prizes comprise of work donated by members of the Sale) to go toward rebuilding Gaza…. Hurrah! and hope to see you there ……

Elemental Makers

I have been invited by Nicholas Newman to curate the upstairs space at Provision SE1, 53 Rope Walk, where there will be a select group of local artisans and artists whose work I admire and also reflect the ethos of the store and the Scobel brand. It would be lovely if you could join us on the Friday evening for a glass of organic wine from our neighbours at 40 Maltby Street. We shall remain at the store through Saturday and Sunday where you are welcome to meet the artists and purchase their wares.

Crochet Bonnet

These bonnet have been made exclusively for Scobel Clothing by artist and sculptor Gabby Chapman in East Sussex.

Each one is individual made and so slightly different but they are tight and solid with enough ‘give’ to fit most sizes.

I have added soft leather ties but these can be easily swapped for velvet or satin to ‘taste’
